Plans for 2011 Conference On Hold
The Vermont EMS Office and staff are committed to helping EMS personnel find opportunities for continuing education, as well as formal and informal professional gatherings. One of our favorites has been the annual EMS Conference. Most of our staff resources, however are focused on meeting our commitments and obligations, including implementing the requirements of Act 142. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to hold off on the traditional annual conference.
Several EMS Districts have contacted us to offer assistance in planning seminars or other offerings as an alternative to the conference. We will keep everyone informed as details about these develop. Keep checking this website for information.
Some of the ideas that have been suggested include:
- Two smaller events, one in the north and one in the south
- One event focused on didactic presentations, and a second with mainly clinical/practical offerings
- An offering in the Fall
- A less formal social/recognition event with fewer educational sessions
- Educational offerings in conjunction with neighboring states
- One or more low cost, one day educational event(s) that would not require an overnight stay
A number of people have submitted ideas for future conference offerings and we welcome your suggestions. We appreciate the support that many people have offered to assist in organizing some type of conference offering. The Vermont EMS Conference has enjoyed excellent participation by EMS personnel and organizations from across the state for many years. We look forward to working with the EMS community to arrange a new type of offering.
